This book design springs from the profound depths of indigenous wisdom, threading a narrative of consciousness through the interplay of vibrant colours, compelling symbols, and purposeful layout. Central to this narrative is the Adinkra symbol ‘Sankofa’, a powerful emblem from Ghana, West Africa, that echoes the tenet, ‘Go back and get it’ or ‘Return and fetch it’.

Sankofa urges us to revisit our roots, reclaim our history, and draw from its wealth to navigate the complexities of the present and the unknowns of the future.

In this design, Sankofa is not merely an emblem; it becomes a torchbearer of the indigenous knowledge system, guiding us through the winding pathways of our cultural identity. It illuminates the interconnectedness of past, present, and future, shedding light on the crucial role of heritage in shaping our perceptions and influencing our actions.

/ Inspiring with design

This book is more than a visual spectacle; it is a dialogue between design and consciousness, a quest to unmask the transformative potential of indigenous symbolism in design practices.
